The Ried located on the south side of the Stradener Himmelsberg at 360m above sea level lives up to its name, a very rocky, steep basin. It is characterized by a warm microclimate as well as sandy, slightly calcareous soils from fine tertiary sediments, which with are interspersed with large heat-retaining stone slabs
