Dürnstein is the charming and historic town in the heart of the Unesco World Heritage Wachau, which gives its name to our village wines. Typical for the Wachau are also the stone terraces, which have an essential influence on the typicity of our wines, where also the Riesling grapes for our Dürnstein Federspiel grow. Microclimates, different soil types and rigorous selection result in a crisp, juicy almost unruly wine that perfectly showcases the uniqueness of the Wachau.

Wine Description

In a corset of balanced acidity, the wine has time to develop and to sprout the fine aromas, like spring flowers. Sunny disposition and mineral tension keep this Riesling under control! Multiface aromas of white peaches, citrus zest and floral components in the nose - elegant structure with a taut acid frame.

Winery

The Tegernseerhof is situated in the middle of one of the most beautiful winegrowing regions in Austria – the Wachau, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The original facilities were built in 1176 by the Benedictine community of the Tegernsee Abbey. Today, Martin Mittelbach is the sixth generation of owners. Among the best-known, excellent locations and wines are Schuett, Hoehereck, Loibenberg, Steinertal and Kellerberg. As a member of the association “Vinea Wachau”, the vinification follows the regulations of the “Codex Wachau“ - a declaration of dedication to natural wine production and the strictest control. "The highest level of excellence must be the minimum we should expect from these wines." Martin Mittelbach.
