Vineyard Site
The bright red soils of the Roter Hang do more than just lend the vineyard its name. They famously give grapes grown here a distinctive mineral character that forms the structural spine for the eventual wines. If wine is created first and foremost in the vineyards, then the family understands the true value of founder Carl Gunderloch’s gift: a near-monopole position on the magnificent Rothenberg and, later, holdings in Pettenthal and Hipping.
